HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

 

Pelican Falls Centre (PFC) was established in 1978 and is situated on 172 acres of woodland on the shores of Pelican Lake. The land is part of the traditional territory of the Lac Seul First Nation.

 

The Pelican Falls Centre provides accommodation to students attending Pelican Falls First Nation High School. 

 

Each PFC house has two House Counsellors, working alternate shifts, and they live with the students and provide:

 

·         a safe, secure, welcoming home environment

·         supervision outside of school hours

·         encouragement and personal counseling

·         life skills support and training

·         academic encouragement

·         social/recreational programs

·         spiritual and cultural opportunities
