Staying Connected Program
Staying Connected - Our Mission
Northern Nishnawbe Education Council (NNEC) has developed a new program that will allow parents / guardians to stay connected with their children while attending Pelican Falls First Nations High School and Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School. It is emotionally and financially difficult on a household when a member of the family has to leave the community for school. Moving away from the close ties and family bonds can make adjusting to their new environment demanding for everyone. Our goal is to reduce the stress level for both parents and students by promoting the bond of parent / child relationship to continue using Information Technology. NNEC will make available the necessary means for the parent to stay connected with their children.
Video Conferencing - Every student and parent will have access to video conferencing equipment so they can connect to each other. All the parent needs to do is contact your local Wahsa Centre to arrange for a time and we’ll do the rest.
Web broadcasting - Through our Conferencing platform, parents can use any personal computer that has an internet connection to connect with their children. Whether you are in on the Hudson Bay Coast or the City of Vancouver, you can stay connected.
Web Portal - NNEC has created a web portal that will allow each parent to see what assignments they are working on, the progress they’re making and how they are succeeding with their education.
Coming Soon!!!
Campus Radio - Pelican Falls will be broadcasting their campus radio signal on May 4, 2009. The signal will be streamed through the NNEC
website for all to hear. During certain times, you can catch Pelican Falls campus radio on Bell Expressvu and Wahsa Radio. Please visit out
website for updates!
NNEC / Wahsa Radio - During off times of Wahsa radio, NNEC will be broadcasting programming that will keep you up to date on the happenings of NNEC.
