Literacy Festival

Wahsa, in partnership with Sioux Lookout District schools, participated in the 5th Annual Literacy Festival “Empowerment Expression” Over the years we have worked to celebrate literacy through writing and reading contests, literacy displays, special guests and Aboriginal artists. The literacy contest invited participants to write a short story/comic, poetry and a favourite person. Shooma Orzechowski won the trip to Winnipeg. Maggie Woods will be brought through funding from the Writer’s Union of Canada. Through Ontario Arts Council funding, the Debajumahiig Theatre Group was brought in to do workshops and entertain.
